Fast Ways to Lose Weight – How I Lost 35 Pounds

I’ve had so many people ask me how I lost the weight that I decided to start a blog about it.  Today’s post is the long answer to the questions about “how to lose weight fast”.

I started looking for fast ways to lose weight several months ago after a client of mine came into the office about 50 pounds lighter and glowing.  She looked fantastic! This lady was one person that I thought would never lose the weight.  She’s a nice enough lady, but she suffered from depression, among other family problems and I figured weight loss was not her main concern.

I’ve dieted before. I’ve read tons of books and articles with weight loss tips and have started several diets but I just couldn’t make it past a few days.

I decided after talking to her that I would try the diet that she used to lose all the weight.  In the first week of the plan, I leaned a lot about myself.  Here’s my advice for fast ways to lose weight without losing your mind.

Start Your Diet on a Weekend

1. I learned that I should not have started the diet on a work day.  One of the hardest parts of losing weight is smelling delicious food coming from other areas of the office and knowing that you shouldn’t have any.  On my second day of the diet, a co-worker brought in food from Chick fil A.  I just about cried.  My advice to you is to start the diet on the weekend.  That way, you will have lost a pound or two before you are confronted with temptation and you will be more likely to stick to the plan.

Learn Why You are Overeating and Prepare for It

2. I learned that I struggled the most with wanting to eat unhealthy things when I was under stress.  At home, I never struggled with wanting to eat the wrong foods because I was laid back and not under any stress.  Work was a different story.  It’s best to prepare for those times when you feel that something sweet will make you feel better.  Keep a stash of sugar free chocolate candy with you at all times.

Prepare Your Body for Detox

3. I learned that my body was FULL of sugar and needed a detox badly! I already knew that my body was overrun with yeast.  I was having on-going athelete’s foot and several yeast infections a year.  I would treat the symptoms, but would not change my diet.  Once I began this diet, though, my body began to go into a full on detox.  I had a killer headache the first two days!

If I had realized what was going on, I could have prevented that.  I would have slowly cut back on sugar and carbs in the days leading up to my diet and I would have taken several epsom salt baths to help my body detox.

Be Aware of Your Brain Function

4. I learned that eating the right foods can help you concentrate more.  Before this diet, it seemed that my brain was in a constant fog.  I just assumed it was because I have always suffered from depression.  However, just a couple of days into the diet, in addition to losing weight, the fog lifted and I could think clearly – all day long – for the first time in years! I still cannot get over how much more brain function I have now.

Pay Attention to Your Energy Levels

5. I learned that eating more does not give you more energy.  I was tired all the time and often wondered if I was borderline diabetic.  I would get crazy sleepy after lunch, almost to the point of not being able to function.  Just 2 days into the diet, though, I had tons more energy and was able to get so much accomplished around the house and at work.  I was eating a lot of carbs.  I knew it, but I had no idea how badly it was affecting me.

Answers About This Diet

This diet is basically a low carb diet with a good bit of variety.

You will be on the diet for 11 days, then you will be off of it for 3 days.  This means that on those 3 days, you can eat whatever you want.  Then you will start another 11 day diet cycle.

You will get most of your fat from nuts on this diet.

When you begin the diet, you go online and choose the foods you like from a long list.  Then the program generates an 11 day diet for you based on what you like to eat.

Exercise on this diet is light to moderate.

This diet is one of the best fast ways to lose weight that I have ever found.

Two Books about Weight Loss that Have Changed My Life

This year, I have read two books about weight loss that have completely changed the way that I look at food and my relationship to food. After I lost the weight using this method, I wanted to make sure that I kept it off. These two books gave me some valuable information about how I could do this without driving myself crazy!

The first book that I am talking about today is Eat to Live, by Dr. Joel Fuhrman. This book has shown me exactly what different kinds of food are doing to my body. After you read this book, you will never want to eat processed foods again.
